What does Leela mean?
In Sanskrit, Leela (लीला) translates to "divine play." It embodies the spontaneous and creative flow of the universe, often seen as an expression of the divine. In Yoga philosophy, Leela represents the idea that all of existence is a manifestation of the playful energy of the cosmos, frequently associated with Krishna or Shiva.
The sweet fragrance of a flower, the breathtaking beauty of a sunset… Leela.
Leela reflects life and creation as a joyful, effortless expression of cosmic consciousness—something organic and vibrant, rather than mechanical or burdensome. It reminds us to embrace life with playfulness, creativity, and openness.

Traditionally, saunas have been the bustling center of a community, and The Wet Terrace is no different. It’s totally cool to come here solo or with your friends. We’re social animals by nature, and part of being your best self is being part of a community.
You don’t need to whisper, but please be mindful of others' experiences and use indoor voices. It’s ok to strike up conversations with like-minded guests, but Leela is not a place for speed dating. Be chill!
You can bring your phone to the wet terrace, but no phones in the sauna.

In the sauna, the higher you go, the hotter it is. If you’re new to sauna, start lower down, and gradually build yourself up higher over time. You are also welcome to sit on the floor! If you feel dizzy or lightheaded, step outside.
You can spot an experienced sauna-goer by how quickly they shut the sauna door. Do not be that jerk who keeps the sauna door open, as you literally send all the hot air out and ruin the sauna experience for everyone there. Shut the door quickly!
No phones in the sauna. No water bottles in the sauna. Any kind of plastics in the intense heat will release microplastics into the air. Drink water before and after you sauna, but not during, as it reverses the sweat mechanism which is the whole reason why you’re in the sauna in the first place.
You are required to have a towel underneath all parts of you while in the sauna. This is for many reasons! This sauna is a traditional sauna that we built in Finland. We consider the sauna a ceremonial & spiritual space, so we treat it with respect. Sweat destroys the wood. It also makes the wood smell gross. Put a towel under you!
One of our staff will come in periodically and add water to the sauna stones, creating Loyly, or steam. This creates a different kind of heat in the sauna. Enjoy it!

Sauna Masters host 20-minute guided sauna sessions (Aufguss) as listed on our schedule. The core elements of an Aufguss Ceremony are heat, essential oils and music. To join, simply head to the sauna during your visit when the Sauna Master announces an upcoming Aufguss.

The cold plunge is an incredible tool for nervous system regulation, circulation & mental resilience. The shock of the cold triggers a powerful physiological response: your blood vessels constrict, your heart rate adjusts, and your body releases endorphins and anti-inflammatory compounds. Regular cold exposure will boost your mood, increase metabolism, and even strengthen the immune system.
How to Cold Plunge Like a Pro
Breathe! Your body will want to panic—slow, controlled breathing is the key to settling in.
Enter mindfully. No splashing, no sudden movements, and definitely no cannonballs.
Stay in for 1-3 minutes. If you’re new, start small and build your tolerance over time.
Set a timer. We provide little timers so you can set a goal before getting in. Having a boundary for how long you’re committing to makes the experience easier and helps you stay focused.
Emerge with intention. Step out slowly and let your body adjust before rushing to warm up.
Pro tip: If the plunge feels too intense, keep your hands out of the water—this can make it significantly easier to stay in longer. Your hands and feet are extra sensitive to cold, so leaving them out can help you regulate while still getting all the benefits of full-body immersion.
You can spot an experienced cold plunger by how calmly they enter and exit the water. If you see someone taking a slow, controlled breath before stepping in, follow their lead. Don’t stand around debating it—just get in.
And finally, do not scream, splash, or shout profanities. We get it, it’s cold—but respect the space, our neighbors, and the experience for others. Breathe, embrace the challenge, and enjoy the afterglow.

For anyone who books our wet terrace, we provide two towels. We ask that you always use a towel underneath you in the sauna. We have a traditional Finnish sauna that we love, and sweat deteriorates the wood!
-
Yoga & Breathwork. We suggest always getting here 15 minutes early, so you can sign in and not stress! If you are more than 5 minutes late you may not be able to practice. For a fully booked session, if you arrive less than 4 minutes before the start, your spot may be given away.
The Wet Terrace. You can arrive up to 15 minutes before and after your reservation time. If you arrive outside of that designated window, you might not be able to enter, depending on our capacity on that given day. You can enjoy The Wet Terrace for as long as you like. No re-entry.

We have a small changing area with lockers. Our lockers do not have locks, feel free to bring your own, or buy one from our front desk.
